Ms Harinder Sidhu, the Australian High Commissioner to India, announced that a total of 52 Indian students will be offered prestigious Australia Awards-Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships for 2018.
The successful students will now study at Australia's top research universities in fields that include medical science, law and public health, mechanical engineering and criminology.
“I congratulate the successful applicants. They have been selected on the basis of their potential to build educational, research and professional links between Australia and India."
"These awardees will over time become the new generation of global leaders.”
“The Australia Awards-Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships will forge understanding and strong networks between Indian and Australian scholars. These links will continue long after the scholars have returned to India," Ms Sidhu said.
Annually, the Australian government offers Australia Awards-Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships to students, researchers and professionals across the world to study in Australian universities or undertake a professional development program.
The scholarships are purely merit-based and internationally-competitive. The scholarships are implemented by the Australian Government’s Department of Education and Training.
Candidates selected for the awards will receive travel allowance ($3,000), monthly stipend ($3,000) and establishment allowance ($2,000) for fellowships or ($4,000) for scholarships. However, travel and health insurance are also included in select categories.
