Born with clubbed feet, unable to walk and run like other children till a certain age. But, no worries! It has been a boon for all the food lovers or else we would have missed a great chef. The problem of Vikas Khanna made him spend time and feel comfortable in the kitchen along with his grandmother. At 17, he started a small shop and supplied food for kitty parties. In 2002, he sold Indian food in the streets of NewYork, but later described as the 'The Hottest Chef Of America'.

Today, November 14 on the occasion of his birthday, we EeYuva present a quick sneak peak on his culinary journey from 'Amritsar' To 'America'.

  • Vikas Khanna's bond with kitchen started at a very tender age because of his misaligned feet. In 2000, he moved to US and also sold Indian food at the time of 'TriBeCa Film Festival' in 2002.

  • Later, he opened a restaurant named 'Junoon' in 2010. His restaurant grabbed the 'Michelin Star' status in the following year 2011. In that same year, People's magazine described him as the 'Sexiest Man Alive' and 'The Hottest Chef Of America'. India honoured him as the 'Man Of The Year-2012'.

  • Khanna worked with Gordon Ramsay who introduced Vikas to the world of television. Vikas Khanna was featured as one of the judges for MasterChef India Season 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  • This Amritsari born chef donned a hat of a writer for presenting his culinary experience to the world. His books such as 'My First Kitchen', 'The Spice Story Of India', 'Bliss Of Spices', 'Essence Of Seasoning: My All Time Favourite Recipes' and more.

  • Vikas Khanna's 'Holy Kitchens' book was premiered at New York India Film Fest.

  • The special book 'Utsav – The Culinary Epic Of Indian Festivals' is a 1,200 page book and it took 12 years for him to compile. The book comprises of Indian festivals, heritage, culture and regional foods.

  • He presented the book to the global personalities from across the world like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former US Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, Britain's Queen Elizabeth, religion leads like the Dalai Lama and Pope Francis, celebrities like Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, among others..

  • Buried Seeds – A documentary on Vikas Khanna's career which shows his passion, resilience, failure, rise and an immigrant overwhelming obstacle in achieving his dreams. This docudrama took a part in 'Cannes Film Festival'.

  • He also showed his talent through cookery shows by hosting several TV cookery shows such as 'Twist Of Taste'. He also came as a judge for the 'Hell's Kitchen' and also a guest judge in MasterChef Australia, etc.,
