We all knew that the Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has launched a high-end smartphone called OnePlus 5 in this June. The smartphone made success ripples in the market and now almost 4.5 months later, the company has introduced its flagship device 'OnePlus 5T', successor to OnePlus 5, on November 16 at a global event happened in New York.
Apart from OnePlus brand fans, mobile maniacs have been waiting eagerly for the smartphone and finally, it's out now. Let’s check the specifications of OnePlus 5T in depth.
First to mention, the latest smartphone has a 6-inch Full Optic AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio to deliver an immersive visual experience. The almost bezel-less device comes up with 'Sunlight Display' to automatically adapt to harsh light.
Coming to the operating system the device runs Oxygen OS out of the box, based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The makers have mentioned that more than 250 closed beta users helped them in shaping up the latest Oxygen OS 4.7.1.
The best to talk about the latest version is, it's bloat-free and has built-in Parallel Apps feature which lets users use multiple social media accounts (business and personal) in the OnePlus 5T.
OnePlus has promised that the latest smartphone will get Android Oreo in the early 2018 and the beta version will be available from this December.
The smartphone is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU and packed with 3300mAh built-in battery that promises 20 hours talk time and 20 days standby time. OnePlus 5T comes with Dash Charge that fills the battery completely in just 30 minutes.
Coming to the camera specifications, OnePlus 5T sports 16 MP and 20MP dual-rear cameras, both with f/1.7 aperture. The company said that the second camera in OnePlus 5T is improved and dedicated to capturing low-light images.
There sits a 16MP autofocus selfie camera on the front side to click perfect selfies. The Portrait Mode lets you capture selfies even with blur backgrounds and of course the device has the ability to shoot 4K videos.
The smartphone comes in both 4GB and 6GB RAM variants having internal storages of 64GB and 128GB respectively. And there is no choice of expanding the memory through a MicroSD card.
As revealed earlier, the company keeps the headphone jack (3.5mm) intact and the smartphone includes connectivity options like 4G, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port and Wi-Fi.
The 'Face Unlock' feature introduced in OnePlus5T seems to take on Apple iPhone X's Face ID. The company claims that the feature can unlock the smartphone in just 0.4 seconds. Fingerprint sensor is moved to the rear.
What makes the fanboys/fangirls feel bad is, OnePlus 5T is not IP certified that means the smartphone is not water and dust resistant. The company should add this point to their 'need-to-add' list. Let’s hope that the next mobile from OnePlus will be splash proof.
The 4GB/64GB variant costs Rs 32,999 which is same as the price of OnePlus 5 and the 6GB/128GB variant costs Rs 37,999. OnePlus 5T will be available in India, Europe and US from November 21. In India, the Amazon-exclusive smartphone is open to grab to Prime users only from November 21 and the rest can book it from November 28.
